JIMMY PAGE, BRIAN MAY On Honors List From QUEEN ELIZABETH
June 11, 2005Veteran rockers Jimmy Page (LED ZEPPELIN) and Brian May (QUEEN) are on Britain's Queen Elizabeth's annual list of birthday honors, according to the Associated Press.
For Page and May, it marked a big step up in recognition since March, when the Queen asked them at a Buckingham Palace reception, "What do you do?"
May was being made a commander of the Order of the British Empire, or CBE, for services to the music industry. He played a prominent role three years ago in celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Queen's coronation, playing "God Save the Queen" from the roof of Buckingham Palace.
Page was to be named an officer of the Order of the British Empire, or OBE, for services to disadvantaged children in Brazil.
